DC Names Earth’s New Green Lantern (UPDATED)

(UPDATE 8/24/2012) In today’s Detroit Free Press, Geoff Johns confirmed that Baz will be Earth’s first Arab-American Green Lantern.  The creator will be debuting the character at an event at the Arab National Museum on Sep. 8

This week, DC released solicitations for Green Lantern #13, which will feature the heretofore unnamed new Lantern who made his first appearance in DC’s Free Comic Book Day issue of Justice League.

They reveal the name of the unknown Lantern to be “Baz”

In that issue, he is shown, some time in the future, battling the members of the League under uncertain circumstances.

DC is preparing to launch the Green Lantern books into their latest event “The Third Army”, which will see the Guardians of the Universe replacing the Green Lantern Corps that they created in favor of a new type of peacekeeper.
